Hunter Center closed until Monday, March 30

In an email sent to the campus community this evening, President Dondi Costin announced that the Hunter Center will close through the remainder of the week due to an employee鈥檚 potential exposure to COVID-19 off campus. Costin said:

This timely warning is being sent to alert our community聽because we learned this afternoon聽that a 午夜快播 employee who works in the Hunter Center has been in contact with an individual聽(not a 午夜快播 employee)聽who聽has now tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This is the first, and only, report of potential contact within the 午夜快播 family. Based on the contact profile, the individual and the individual鈥檚 physician have suggested that it is unlikely the 午夜快播 employee contracted the virus, but the individual was tested today out of an abundance of caution. As required by the South Carolina Department of Public Health,聽follow-up notification will be sent once the individual鈥檚 test results are known. 聽

All those who work in the聽Hunter Center聽have been sent home for the remainder of the week and alerted to monitor themselves for symptoms. Regardless of the individual鈥檚 test results, please know that the CDC does not define simply being in the same office with someone who tests positive as 鈥渃lose contact.鈥澛燜or the past two weeks we have been escalating our cleaning procedures and the frequency of our聽cleaning practices. Be assured that our housekeeping staff members are thoroughly cleaning the relevant spaces in accordance with public health guidelines.聽For these reasons, the Hunter Center is closed for the rest of the week.
